Pamela, For months, Big Pharma has been flooding the courts with lawsuits to try to stop Medicare from negotiating lower drug prices for patients. Judges aren't buying it. Late last month, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals delivered oral arguments challenging the new program. Thankfully, the judge expressed skepticism about Boehringer's argument and the proposed harm the pharmaceutical company claimed it would face. It's the latest blow to pharma in court – and another sign that they should drop their lawsuits. Will you add your name to the petition to demand that pharma CEOs withdraw their lawsuits so Medicare can negotiate lower drug prices for patients nationwide? It takes less than a minute, and more than 150,000 people have already signed on. Just look at pharma's losing record on this issue in just the last few months: -
Last year, a Judge in Ohio ruled against the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's case challenging the Medicare negotiation program -
In February, a judge in Texas dismissed a lawsuit from PhRMA (the pharma industry trade group) -
In March, a Delaware judge ruled against the pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca -
Just days later, a judge in New Jersey ruled against Janssen Pharmaceuticals and Bristol Myers Squibb in similar cases Boehringer Ingelheim, AstraZeneca, Bristol Myers Squibb, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, Novartis, and Novo Nordisk have wasted millions of dollars trying to stop the Medicare negotiation program in court. Their legal onslaught directly opposes the interests of patients and taxpayers who overwhelmingly support Medicare's ability to negotiate lower drug prices. Join more than 150,000 people and 70 groups in sending a unified message to pharma. Sign the petition calling on pharma CEOs to immediately withdraw their lawsuits so Medicare can negotiate lower drug prices. Together, we will protect the progress we've made in the fight for affordable drugs.
