Friend, on Friday, March 24, powerful tornadoes ripped through Mississippi and Alabama leaving a 109-mile destruction path. At least 25 people were killed, thousands of homes, churches and neighborhoods were destroyed, and entire towns were left without water and electricity.
Save the Children teams are in Mississippi, where thousands of children and families are in urgent need of food, water, shelter, clothes, toiletries and other assistance. In moments of emergency, children are always among the most at risk. The Children’s Emergency Fund is an essential resource that allows us to respond quickly when crises strike. As our teams respond to this devastating disaster, we set an emergency goal to raise $100,000 for the Children’s Emergency Fund by midnight tonight.
Thanks to supporters like you, our teams in Mississippi are already working to meet children’s most urgent needs, assess the situation and plan long-term recovery efforts. The situation is still developing, but it’s already clear that this emergency will require a significant long-term response. We always remain in affected communities for as long as we’re needed to ensure children are protected, but we are counting on your support to power this important work in Mississippi.
