The GOP is betraying the American people.
Friend, Chuck Schumer just slammed House Republicans' tax giveaway to the rich in no uncertain terms: It's a betrayal of the American people and American values. But to make it worse, House Republicans keep saying they're doing this on OUR behalf -- as if their constituents sent them to Congress to make it easier for the wealthy to cheat on their taxes! We need to set the record straight. If you're one of the millions of Americans who believe the wealthy and big corporations should pay their fair share, sign Chuck's petition right now. – Team Schumer ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Chuck Schumer Date: Tues, Jan 17, 2022 Subject: Letting multimillionaires evade their taxes? Friend, After an embarrassing start, House Republicans have officially taken power. Their first order of business was no surprise: They passed a massive tax giveaway for multimillionaires and big corporations. Our expanded Democratic Senate Majority won’t let it happen. But we need to make it abundantly clear: The American people believe everyone should pay their fair share. If you agree, sign my petition right now. The GOP's plan "defunds the IRS." But make no mistake: Their plan only helps the rich who want to cheat the system and increases the national deficit. That's not right. Last year I led Senate Democrats in passing the Inflation Reduction Act to update old technology and hire more people at the IRS to answer the phones and process tax returns -- because Americans deserve quick turnaround on anything to do with their money. And most importantly, the biggest corporations and the wealthiest donors shouldn't get away with paying nothing in taxes. I won't let House Republicans help their wealthy donors rig the system against working families. And I certainly won't let them lie and say they're doing so on behalf of the American people. If you're with me, I need you to sign your name today. Onward, Chuck Schumer | This email was sent to . Click here to unsubscribe.
