The most important thing that we can do for our country in the near term is to help Sen. Raphael Warnock win re-election.
Should he win his runoff race against Herschel Walker in Georgia, Warnock will give those who believe in the core values of our country, including voting rights, reproductive freedom and free and fair elections, a 51st vote in a closely divided Senate.
That means that Trump Republicans will be stymied in their attempts to subvert our constitution and undermine our democracy. But it also means that no one Democratic senator — whether it's Joe Manchin or Kyrsten Sinema or anyone else — will be able to bring our government to a standstill until their parochial or personal demands are met.
Re-electing Sen. Warnock means we have a better chance to hold the line on those issues that are most important to us, and potentially make progress as majorities in the House of Representatives change in future elections.
That's the near term. Over the long term, we must continue to increase registration and engagement with prospective voters who have been left out of most Democratic campaigns' outreach plans and budgets. These under-invested voters are critical to future victories — in Texas, Georgia, and throughout the country. Powered by People will continue to focus on registering and engaging with them in the Lone Star State with your help.
Thank you,
Beto
