Friend, before I ask you to make a Giving Tuesday donation, I want to introduce you to a few of the children who are already benefiting from the support of Leadership Circle members. 10-year-old Vinalee lives in southern Madagascar, a region that is currently facing a devastating drought. Water and food are scarce, so before going to school, Vinalee goes out into the field to harvest cactus fruit to feed her younger sisters. Leadership Circle members help provide emergency cash assistance so Vinalee’s family and thousands more can afford to purchase food and other vital resources. 17-year-old Samia* and her family live in one of Bangladesh’s poorest towns, where children are at risk of sex trafficking and child labor. She and her younger brother attend a Save the Children-supported school, and although there’s a lot of pressure on Samia to drop out and work to support her family, she is determined to finish her education and become a doctor. The war in Ukraine is causing severe shortages of food and medical supplies across the country, putting the futures of children like 1-year-old Lavra* at risk. Last spring, Lavra’s mother made the difficult decision to flee their home in Kherson, arriving at the Romanian border after a harrowing two-week journey. Thanks to the support of Leadership Circle members, we are building child-friendly spaces in Ukraine and around the world so children affected by conflict and disaster have a safe space to heal, recover and just be kids again.
