Yes! I'll Be There!

Join fellow MoveOn members, March On, and allies for a rally on the 58th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s historic March on Washington to demand that the vision of MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech be deferred no longer. The right to vote must be protected from Republican attacks.

Will you RSVP to join MoveOn members and allies for a rally at McPherson Square this Saturday at 9:45 a.m. to demand that elected officials protect our multiracial democracy by ensuring the freedom to vote for all?

Our voting rights are under attack by Republican state legislatures in 48 states across the country.1 These racist, anti-democratic voter suppression laws have no place in our democracy. We should be expanding access to the ballot box, not restricting it.

Just this week, Democrats in the House took action and passed another historic voting rights bill: the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, which restores and expands the original Voting Rights Act and strengthens protections on our freedom to vote. Not a single Republican voted for it, demonstrating yet again that they want to continue to rig the rules in their favor.2 All eyes are on the Senate now, where Democrats must end the Jim Crow filibuster to end Republican obstruction and finish the job by passing the For the People Act and John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

This is why we must continue coming together and getting loud to make sure Congress acts with urgency to protect our multiracial democracy by passing transformational voting rights legislation including the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.

Yes! I'll Be There!

We are committed to maintaining public health measures to practice safer protesting during the pandemic. All event participants are expected to wear a mask, maintain social distancing, and follow all local safety guidelines. Additionally, a core principle shared by supporting organizations is a commitment to nonviolent, peaceful actions. All actions are intended to be nonviolent and peaceful. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. Please note that this event is hosted by an entity other than MoveOn, and MoveOn is not responsible for planning and supervising this event.
