Friends -
Powerful, deep-pocket special interests are spending a huge amount of money trying to defeat Nina Turner in the special election on August 3 in Ohio's 11th congressional district.
Why? Why is Wall Street, the fossil fuel industry and other powerful special interests so afraid of Nina?
The answer is obvious. Nina is a different kind of Democrat — a progressive, grassroots activist who knows that real change never takes place from the top on down, but always from the bottom on up. She has spent her political life trying to build a multi-generational, multi-racial political movement which is prepared to take on the big money interests that have so much economic and political power in our country.
With only a few days left in this race, she is counting on a lot of donations today to take on the super PACs that are trying to defeat her.
If elected, Nina will work with me in taking on the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical industry and help us create a Medicare for All, single-payer system.
If elected, Nina will work with me in raising the minimum wage to a living wage and make it easier for workers to join unions.
If elected, Nina will work with me in making certain that all of our young people have the opportunity for a higher education as we make public colleges and universities tuition-free.
If elected, Nina will work with me in creating millions of good paying jobs as we combat climate change and transform our energy systems away from fossil fuel into energy efficiency and sustainable energy.
If elected, Nina will work with me in ending all forms of systemic racism and pay special attention to communities all across the country that have been long-neglected and suffer from high unemployment, bad schools and poor housing.
If elected, Nina will work with me in finally passing comprehensive immigration reform and a path towards citizenship for millions of undocumented people.
Given the unprecedented crises facing our country, there is an enormous amount of work that must be done. We need progressive fighters in Congress. We need Nina Turner.
In these last few days of her campaign, please help Nina in any way that you can.
When Nina Turner wins the special election next week, it will be because all of us came together to make it happen. Thank you for adding your donation today.
In solidarity,
Bernie
