Discuss how climate change and the ongoing use of fossil fuels is making these massive fires and deadly storms worse." | Friend, Last night an enormous hurricane hit Louisiana and Texas, sending a wall of water as tall as 20 feet smashing into homes along hundreds of miles of coastline. There's never been this many big storms this early in the year in history, or this many fires across California - but news outlets aren't making the connection between extreme weather like Hurricane Laura and fossil fuel pollution. We need news companies to tell the truth about extreme weather, fossil fuel pollution, and climate change. Can you add your name to our petition to CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX telling them to talk about climate change when they cover extreme weather like Hurricane Laura? Earlier this summer, a massive, intense windstorm called a derecho sent tornado strength winds blasting through hundreds of miles of Iowa farms. National news made almost no mention of climate change in their coverage. Now California and much of the West are covered in a thick layer of smoke from out of control wildfires, and the Gulf coast is reeling from another historic superstorm, and they're repeating the same mistake. Pollution from fossil fuels is heating up the planet, and scientists have confirmed it will lead to wetter, bigger storms, and more intense periods of prolonged heat that feed forest fires. We need news organizations to tell the truth about extreme weather. Add your name to put the pressure on them now.
