No one should EVER struggle to afford insulin

We can't afford to let Big Pharma save face for their exploitation of patients.

Tell Congress: "It's shameful that Novo Nordisk is using the coronavirus health crisis to cover the tracks of its own years-long greed. It's past time for empty, cynical promises from Big Pharma's insulin kingpins. The government must act: no one should EVER struggle to afford their insulin." ADD YOUR VOICE Insulin manufacturer Novo Nordisk is normally content with charging patients outrageously inflated prices for insulin. Now, though, a Novo Nordisk executive claims that "patients have enough to worry about at this moment." In a profoundly cynical gesture, the same executive then added, "We don't want being able to pay for insulin to be one of them."[1] Apparently there's a good time to have to worry about paying for insulin? Millions of Americans rely on insulin. People who can't afford their insulin are dying, all for a drug that was invented 100 years ago. ADD YOUR NAME: Every day is a bad time to worry about paying for insulin! We can't afford to let Big Pharma save face for their exploitation of patients. It's not enough to give a few patients a tiny amount of relief, and then move back to a status quo where people die without the insulin they need. The voracious greed of the pharmaceutical industry must no longer come before the needs of patients. The researchers who discovered insulin sold their patent for one dollar.[2] There have been minimal changes in how insulin is produced, yet the price has risen enormously, especially over the last decade. There's no reason patients should EVER struggle to afford insulin. Whether or not the insulin kingpins feel like scoring a favorable headline. The government must step in to ensure insulin is truly within reach for every American who needs it. We need the U.S. government to commit to public production of insulin today.
