What happened:

Let's address the events of the last 48 hours:

First: Donald Trump was given an award for his "work" on criminal justice reform at a forum at an HBCU -- yet students were excluded from attending and asking him questions.

Then: I withdrew from the forum because I refuse to paper over Trump's abysmal record on criminal justice.

Next: Donald Trump attacked me on Twitter for speaking out against him and standing up for students.

Finally: The sponsor of the forum was dropped and the university hosted a NEW forum, where students and members of the community could participate for free. I joined them to have a real conversation about criminal justice reform.

It's been a whirlwind. But let me be clear: the core of any fight for justice is that you speak truth, uncomfortable though it may be.

And truthfully, another uncomfortable fact is right now we're facing our end-of-month fundraising deadline and I'm concerned that we won't hit our grassroots goal by October 31. Will you pitch in your first contribution to make sure we do?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

What most inspired me about the last 48 hours is how quickly our grassroots supporters joined me in the fight.

Thousands shared your thoughts with me and my team online -- and thousands more pitched in donations of $5 and $10 to show you're in my corner.

Help us keep up our momentum -- because we both know it's only a matter of time before Trump attacks me and our team again. Add your first donation to our campaign right now »

Every dollar you add to our campaign helps us send a strong message to Donald Trump, and one to the rest of the country: we are in this fight, and we intend to win it.

For The People,

—Kamala Harris
