Andra, a new study shows that MAGA book bans continue to intensify in public K-12 schools. In the 2022–23 school year, school book bans increased by 33% compared to the year before.1
Across the country, Republicans continue to target books that are about race or racism or are written by and/or feature characters of color or LGBTQ+ characters.
Spooky, indeed. And it's meant to divide us and keep us from building the vibrant multiracial democracy that holds so much hope for our future and people's lives and well-being.
But we won't let MAGA fearmongering win. Instead, we must band together and make it clear that we won't tolerate Republicans' attempts at censorship and authoritarianism.
