Pamela - This is urgent. The 6-3 ultra-conservative Supreme Court has decided to weigh in on a case that could completely dismantle Roe v. Wade once and for all. This case — Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization — is not a subtle threat to Roe. It is a direct challenge to decades of pro-choice precedent. And whatever decision the Court makes will impact millions of people across the country. The clock is ticking and we have absolutely no time left to wait: our lawmakers must expand the Court immediately. Sign the petition to President Biden today. Six conservative justices should not be able to overturn the right to a legal abortion when 77 percent of Americans support it. The Biden Administration recently established a commission to study the Supreme Court and explore avenues for reform. While this may seem encouraging, the Commission doesn't plan to publish its findings for six months. We do not have 180 days to wait for this Commission to complete an academic exercise. As long as the far-right supermajority exists on the Court, they can dismantle current constitutional protections like Roe v. Wade and they can go even further, preventing future progressive policies like pay equity, family leave, child care, health care expansion, pregnancy and gender discrimination, sexual assault protections, and so much more. Adding four seats to the Supreme Court is the only practical, proportional response to Republicans' theft of the Court, and it's the only plan that protects women's rights from Court conservatives. Stalling for a Commission that won't even produce recommendations is not a plan — it's a surrender. The Biden Administration must support Court expansion immediately.
