| Congressman John Lewis showed our country that the fight for voting rights is not over until every single American is able to cast a ballot and have their vote counted. As the GOP attempts to suppress the vote of Georgians and people across the country, that fight is more important than ever. I would not be here today if Congressman Lewis had not broken barriers for people who look like me. Because of him, I'm in Washington fighting every day to support the rights of working people. I'm fighting back against the GOP's attempts at voter suppression – from demanding the Senate pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to introducing legislation to make Election Day a Federal Holiday. Add your name to honor Congressman John Lewis' legacy and defend our right to vote. The voter suppression laws being passed in Georgia and across the country are an assault on our democracy. They disproportionately impact Black, Brown, Asian, and young people, and we must do everything we can to fight back against them. But I can't continue this fight without folks like you who believe in breaking barriers and getting into good trouble. I need you with me, so will you add your name to this petition right now and help me continue to advocate for our right to vote? —Congressmember Nikema Williams |
