One of the last things I got to do with my grandfather was vote alongside him in the 2004 election. After we voted, he and I sat out on our porch. He reminded me South Carolina didn't always consider him a whole man, and that he couldn't always vote like we just had done. Then, he looked at me, grabbed my arm, and said: "Never let anybody tell you that you don't matter. Never let anybody tell you that you don't count." The 360-plus anti-voter bills being introduced across our nation are telling people that they do not matter. That they do not count. And that is a lie.
