Republican legislatures across the country are passing laws undermining the right to vote. In Arizona they're still trying to overturn the 2020 election with a bizarre yet dangerous audit. And Republicans are planning to use the new census numbers to gerrymander the House to their benefit. HR 1 can put an end to all of that and ensure fair elections across America in 2022. But McConnell has made defeating it one of his highest priorities. Yet Senators, especially Democrats, aren't moving to end the filibuster and pass HR 1 in the Senate. We need to flood them with messages showing them just how urgent it is for them to act. Now. Sign the petition: Tell the Senate to end the filibuster and pass HR 1! Florida became the latest state to pass laws making it harder to vote. Florida's new law will make it harder to vote by mail, harder to cast a ballot, and like Georgia, it also limits the ability of the public to give food and water to people waiting in line. Now Texas and Ohio are both poised to pass similar legislation. These three states have nearly 100 electoral votes combined, and could help decide the outcome of crucial elections in 2022 and 2024. On top of that, Republicans are busy working overtime to "gerrymander their way back to the majority." HR 1 has provisions to require an independent redistricting process free from the control of either party. And it would roll back the restrictions on voting rights that Republicans are passing state by state. It's absolutely critical that HR 1 pass. But McConnell will succeed at blocking HR 1 unless Senators end the filibuster and fight for our right to vote. Right now, Senators aren't acting with the urgency we need to see.
