Our shared humanity

I wish this wasn't an issue we had to bring attention to in the first place, I'm glad that the Biden administration is finally doing the right thing.

Pamela, Last week, the Biden administration announced its support for suspending intellectual property rights associated with the COVID-19 vaccines — one step closer to making them more widely available across the world. I, along with my colleagues, have been urging President Biden to open up our COVID vaccine patents and to prioritize people over Big Pharma profits, lead with humanity, and defeat this virus once and for all. And while I wish this wasn't an issue we had to bring attention to in the first place, I'm glad that the Biden administration is doing the right thing. This recent change is also proof of something I've known since the beginning of our campaign, Pamela: progressive ideas are popular, and recognizing our global, shared humanity is the right thing to do. Our movement is growing because we listen to, love, and hear people — and as progressive lawmakers, we need to do right by the folks who helped us get here and helped deliver the victory for Joe Biden. We need to continue to hold each other accountable, listen to our people, and fight for our agenda. Pamela, I'm proud to continue pushing President Biden on issues like these, especially when humanity and lives are on the line – but I need your voice to make as large an impact as possible.
