Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, Pamela! While every week should be Teacher Appreciation Week, I wanted to take some time today to specifically acknowledge and appreciate the teachers, educators, counselors, and mentors amongst us who nurture the future of humankind. We see you and honor you. I'm proud to be one of the few members of Congress who's a public school educator. I used to say that if you can run a middle school effectively in the Bronx as I have, you have the experience to serve in Congress. My decades of experience in the classroom and in our schools has given me an incredible amount of knowledge when it comes to how I legislate, represent my district of the Bronx and Westchester, and push for our progressive values. In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, will you add your name to show your support for educators across the country? Teachers, especially in public schools, have changed and saved millions of lives. Their work is what love looks like in action. I want all of us to remember and honor that, particularly as we continue the fight to center care in our economy — and to transform our nation into the one that we deserve. We're committed to fighting for an equitable public education system where every child can thrive in a healthy and prosperous society and grow no matter where they live. But that starts and ends with treating our teachers with respect. Add your name in honor of the teacher that changed your life, as we fight for a better and more equitable education system for all. Peace and love, Jamaal |
