Pamela, I think it's ridiculous that working-class families at the bottom pay more in taxes than the ultra-rich folks at the top in this country. The way our system is set up, billionaires and ultra-millionaires at the top use tax loopholes to skirt paying their fair share, while families at the bottom struggle to make ends meet. It's way past time to change that — that's why I'm proudly speaking out today in support of Senator Elizabeth Warren's new wealth tax bill. Pamela, if you agree that it's time for billionaires and ultra-millionaires to pay their fair share in taxes, will you add your name to let Senator Warren know we stand with her today? ADD YOUR NAME I'm running to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate because our government should work for working people, not just the people at the top. We already knew that there was a huge gap between the top 1% and everyone else in this country, and the pandemic has made that gap wider than ever. Things get worse when you break it down by race — the Forbes top 400 richest Americans have more wealth than all Black households plus a quarter of Latino households combined. That might sound like a shocking statistic for some, but it's the reality for a whole lot of us. I got an under-the-table job washing dishes at 12 years old because even with both parents working — dad as a social worker and mom as a Certified Nursing Assistant — we still ended up with eviction notices on our door. But it doesn't have to be that way. Families shouldn't have to work so hard only to keep struggling day in and day out. Senator Warren's wealth tax is a real plan to address wealth inequality and put our country on track towards economic justice and a fair shot for everyone, so I'm going to do everything I can to make sure we get this bill passed. That starts with speaking out today in support of this bill, Pamela. We need to drum up a huge base of support from folks across the country to get Pamelabill passed.
