The pay gap has got to go.

ADD YOUR NAME Pamela, Millions of women faced an impossible choice in the last year of the pandemic: quit their job or have no childcare.1 One of the reasons: the pay gap. Women still make less than men. And women of color make even less than white women. Despite unequal pay being illegal since 1963, women faced the reality during the pandemic that they make less than their male partners. With schools closed, something had to give, and it was usually the person who brought home the smaller paycheck. Now, women's participation in the workforce is the lowest it's been in 33 years.2 It is time to close the pay gap. We need good public policies that support women and caregivers. Add your name if you agree. This is a problem with the system. The pay gap will not be closed by individual women trying to negotiate their own pay gap. And we know that as soon as a crisis happens, because the system is rife with discimination, it disproportionately affects women, especially those who are of color and parents. The Paycheck Fairness would secure equal pay for equal work for all Americans. The bill would update the Equal Pay Act from 1963, which hasn't achieved its promise of closing the wage gap because of limited enforcement tools and inadequate remedies. Closing the pay gap is the least we can do to support their recovery.
