| Tell Congress: Pass a new War Powers Resolution to prevent new wars in Syria or Iran! | President Biden campaigned on ending our forever wars in the Middle East. But in the dead of night he ordered an unauthorized airstrike in Syria. Our Constitution is clear: only Congress can declare wars, not Presidents. Too often, presidents use their role as commander-in-chief to justify unauthorized military strikes. That's why Congress needs to pass a War Powers resolution to limit presidential use of force, and end our forever wars. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to pass a War Powers Resolution now! While President Biden has made the right promises, actions speak louder than words. These illegal airstrikes undermine those promises and risk escalating tensions in the Middle East. Last year Congress passed a War Powers Resolution in response to an unconstitutional airstrike and Trump refused to sign it. We need a War Powers Resolution that sends a clear message that only Congress, not the president, can approve military strikes like the one President Biden launched in Syria. We need fewer wars, and less military tension. We need Congress to act. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to pass a War Powers Resolution now! Thanks, Team Progress |
