"Unions built the middle class."

Throughout Joe Biden's campaign, we heard the statement, "unions built the middle class." And it's true.
We now have the opportunity to protect unions and expand labor rights by passing the Protecting the Right to Organize Act – known as the PRO Act. The PRO Act would strengthen protections for workers who want to form a union among other protections.
The PRO Act is likely to pass the House, but Republicans in the Senate are fighting back — spreading lies on how empowered unions are bad for business. They are, if you're taking advantage of your workers.
The pandemic has demonstrated the urgent need to protect and strengthen workers' rights. That's why Alexandria co-sponsored the PRO Act, and why we're joining the Democratic Socialists of America to do everything we can right now to pass the bill — that means reaching voters in states where crucial Senators have yet to sign onto the PRO Act.
Will you sign up for a phone bank shift and make calls next weekend to voters in these states to help pass the PRO Act and protect the rights of workers to organize for their rights?
The rights of workers have been under attack for decades, and the share of workers who are part of a union has been on the decline since the 1980s. The PRO Act would empower employees to stand together and organize for better working conditions.
And, the bill would help essential workers secure better wages, paid leave, and hazard pay as the pandemic rages on.
Join us and the DSA to make calls and reach voters to help protect workers' rights and pass the PRO Act now.
In solidarity,
Team AOC
