We did it! This is a huge victory: The days of Trump’s having a blank check from Congress to continue his destructive reign are over.
After a historic wave election, it’s clear that Democrats have taken back the House and the Senate.
This victory wouldn’t have been possible without the work of MoveOn members. Trump and his billionaire cronies spent more than a billion dollars to confuse voters and attempt to defeat progressive candidates. But our collective work reaching those voters made the difference. The mandate is undeniable: Americans will not tolerate the cruelty, corruption, and chaos of this administration or an economy that serves only billionaires.
This new chapter is full of opportunities. Join MoveOn and our partners at the Working Families Party tomorrow, Thursday, November 5 at 8 p.m. ET, for a call to celebrate, reflect, and think about what’s next.
When MoveOn launched our election program earlier this year, we did so with a clear focus: reengaging critical “skippers”—voters we needed to bring back into the Democratic coalition in order to win and be in a stronger position to deliver for working people. And now, early analysis shows that our strategy proved pivotal: Massive turnout in early voting and on Election Day led to Democrats sweeping the House and Senate, winning seats even in battleground and deep-red states and districts.
MoveOn members stepped up in a big way this year:

Reaching out to voters more than 2 million times in the places we get most of our information: by phone, by text message, over social media, even with postcards

Funding the work that connected popular social media creators with messaging that resonates with voters, leading to more than 13 million content views

Ensuring that voters in key races got important information to help them make decisions about their votes—via phone calls, digital ads, and mail—reaching more than 1.8 million voters

Spending over 20,000 volunteer hours reaching voters, supporting members, and building the infrastructure we need for year-round advocacy
MoveOn is proud to have backed bold populist candidates who will fight for us. We’re excited to be sending champions like Abdul El-Sayed, William Lawrence, Bob Brooks, Peggy Flanagan, and many more to Congress. And we’ve sent a clear message to anyone running for president in 2028: A progressive agenda focused on delivering for working people is one that resonates in every corner of the country. But as we know, Trump is still in the White House, and billionaires will keep fighting for an agenda that benefits only them.
Now that the election results are in, the work is just beginning. This new generation of leaders must get to work on lowering healthcare costs, ending the illegal war in Iran, stopping ICE’s reign of terror, holding Big Tech accountable, and investigating this administration’s record levels of corruption. And we’ll be here to support them—and hold their feet to the fire, when needed.
