Pamela,
The legislative session was extended because lawmakers have yet to finalize the state budget: the one task they are required to complete.
As we urge our representatives to agree on a budget and avoid the risk of a state shut-down, we also have one last opportunity to speak up for democracy funding—especially for modernizing our voter registration system.
Tell your legislators to pass a budget that includes funding for voter registration system modernization!
The state budget is more than just numbers—it shows what our state values. And right now, lawmakers need to hear that Floridians value fair, accessible elections.
We're urging them to include critical funding to modernize the Florida Voter Registration System, which is vital for voter access. This investment is years overdue and would make a real, meaningful difference.
We've seen what happens when these needs are ignored: outdated systems that confuse voters and barriers to participation that disproportionately harm marginalized communities.
If we don't speak up now, final budget decisions could happen behind closed doors, leaving out crucial democracy protections.
Let's not let that happen this year.
Make your voice heard: Tell lawmakers to pass a budget that protects our democracy.
Thank you for standing up for our democracy,
Franceska Edouard, Florida Organizer
and the team at Common Cause Florida
