Pamela – our National Parks system is what makes our country great. No matter your age, race, or income level, our National Parks are accessible for everyone and anyone. But if Trump and Musk have their way, they'll sell off our parks for parts to greedy corporations and create barriers to keep folks like out.
Over 300 million people visit our national parks each year, from around the country and world. And the hard working National Park Service is what makes our parks run; they do everything from collect entry fees to guide tours, manage and repair trails, clean restrooms, remove trash, and more. But when DOGE slashed the federal workforce, we lost almost 1,000 of those employees, with seasonal hires' job offers rescinded.
Without these stewards, our parks are in danger, especially as we head into the busy summer months. We saw that in the first Trump administration when the government shut down led to people desecrating protected Joshua trees to use as firewood. We can't risk even more devastation to our natural world. Our parks deserve to be protected as the natural resource they are, Tell Congress to stop Trump and DOGE from destroying our National Parks.
People all over the world come to experience the National Parks that are right in our backyards. They explore everything from the bottom of the Grand Canyon to the peaks of the Rocky Mountains to Old Faithful in Yellowstone.
But these gems aren't good enough for Trump, Musk, and their minions. They want to turn these natural wonders like Yosemite National Park into a playground that only the rich can access – and destroy. They want to auction off the land for corporations to strip the beauty and resources for their own gain. Let's be real, [Firstname/friend], they want to turn our public parks into private goods.
Our parks do so much for us. They introduce people around the country – and the world – to the wonder and beauty of nature. This should be available for everyone to experience, not just the few billionaires who can afford to buy access.
Americans deserve better. They deserve to experience the beauty of America, no matter their income level or proximity to the president. Take a moment to tell your members of Congress to protect our National Parks system.
Thank you,
Mike Phelan
