Pamela, this week the news has been a doozy, and while Trump's plan to freeze federal grants and loans is in dispute, it's clear the Trump administration will prioritize corporate profits, even when it harms hardworking American families. Our team just released new research revealing that Big Oil spent a whopping $445 million to influence elections and lobby Congress for the 2024 election cycle.
Now, those same fossil fuel companies are seeing their power grow in Washington. Trump named fracking evangelist and fossil fuel CEO Chris Wright to lead the Department of Energy. He picked Doug Burgum, a governor who took more than $470,000 in campaign contributions from Big Oil in 2024, to run the Department of the Interior. And for the EPA, he selected Lee Zeldin, who accepted more than $400,000 in Big Oil campaign contributions.
And just hours after his inauguration, Trump signed a series of executive orders that read like an Oil and Gas industry wishlist.
This much is clear: We're up against millionaires and billionaires who will do whatever it takes to influence policy, stop our clean energy progress, and boost their bottom lines.
But it's our job to make sure it's not easy for them. Together, we can make our voices heard and stand up for American families and workers. We'll make it even harder for them to attack our climate progress and protect the clean energy investments we fought hard for and the good jobs they're creating.

Trump is allowing his Oil and Gas friends to rake in ridiculous profits while polluting our air and water, doubling energy bills, and allowing the climate crisis to wreak havoc in our communities.
With the help of supporters like you, we can sustain our work over the next four years and mitigate the harm of this administration. From telling the story of how climate action is bringing good-paying jobs to Republican districts, to showcasing the lower energy costs clean energy is providing to families, to helping Americans hold their representatives accountable.
Thank you for your support,
Climate Power
