Petition to Congress: We urge you to protect IRS funding, especially the funding secured in the Inflation Reduction Act, and end the Trump tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy and corporations. | House Republicans are pushing to slash IRS funding AND extend the Trump tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy. It's all an effort to keep taxes low for corporations and help billionaire tax cheats escape accountability. The GOP proposal would extend Trump-era tax cuts and reduce funding for the IRS next year by $2.2 billion, specifically for tax enforcement. That will give the IRS radically less power to audit and police the ultra-wealthy who are trying to avoid paying taxes. Congress must stop the GOP from cutting IRS funding and lowering tax rates even more for the ultra-wealthy and corporations. Sign the petition: Stop the GOP from slashing IRS funding and lowering tax rates for the ultra-wealthy! With this "MAGAnomics," in addition to slashing IRS funding and taxes for the rich, the social safety net would suffer. The GOP's plans would hurt Medicare and Social Security, all while most Americans are working hard and paying their taxes. In the Inflation Reduction Act, President Biden and Congressional Democrats added an extra $80 billion in funding for the IRS to hold the ultra-wealthy accountable. It costs the agency substantially more resources to audit billionaires and big corporations than everyday Americans, so this increase in funding was necessary to crack down on the super-rich that avoid paying every year through tax evasion or tax cheating. The GOP has been trying to cut this funding since the day it was signed into law. This is all part of the GOP's plan to continue providing avenues for tax giveaways for the rich and corporations. The Trump tax cuts have been a disaster for anyone who's not a multi-millionaire or billionaire or…a massive corporation. Add your name: Protect IRS funding and end the Trump tax cuts. The rich and corporations must pay their taxes! |
