1️⃣ Kansas: Republican legislators pass a bill requiring invasive questions at abortion appointments In Kansas, Republican lawmakers passed legislation requiring medical providers to ask patients why they are seeking abortion care — they will then report these personal reasons to the state in the newest wave of abortion surveillance and restrictions → 2️⃣ Wisconsin: Democratic governor vetoes anti-trans bill In Wisconsin, the state's Republican legislature passed a bill that would ban transgender students from playing on sports teams in alignment with their gender identity. Thankfully, Democratic governor Tony Evers was able to veto the bill in a critical moment protecting trans youth in the face of GOP extremism → 3️⃣ Florida: Conservative state Supreme Court rules in favor of a 6-week abortion ban In Florida, after Republicans used their supermajority to pass an extreme six-week abortion ban, the state's Supreme Court cleared the law's final hurdle. The stakes could not be higher this November, with an abortion rights ballot measure in Florida set to determine the future of reproductive care in the state → 🎉 Celebrate: Democrat Marilyn Lands flips key seat and is sworn into the Alabama House! Despite solid GOP majorities, Democrat Marilyn Lands defied the odds, secured a critical victory, and flipped a seat in the ruby-red state.
