We think there's a better way to fundraise Pamela, We'll cut to the chase: For the first time this year, we're falling behind on our fundraising needs for this month -- not an arbitrary goal, but a budget we've carefully set to support our organizers in the field, craft winning progressive messaging, and develop the voter contact tools and programs we need to win in November. There's only a few days left in the month, and we're $20,000 short of our target for April. At this point in the month, we know your inbox is starting to fill up with fundraising asks (we get them too). It's especially frustrating when they come from emails we didn't sign up for, or from campaigns who only ever ask for money. A lot of these emails include arbitrary midnight deadlines, doomsday predictions if you don't donate, and messages that feed on fear and anger. In the short term, those messages might raise a lot of money, but they cause long-term harm. No one likes being treated like an ATM, and after a constant barrage of anger and fear inducing emails, we can't expect people to feel inspired, hopeful, and motivated. That's why we do things a little differently at Indivisible. Our priority for our email program is to provide you with useful info and meaningful ways to take action. When we do ask for donations, we're honest about the stakes, the urgency, and the need. This is one of those times. The sky won't fall if we miss our goal this month, and we'll still be here working to defeat MAGA. But not hitting our goal will have real consequences.
