The latest tragic incident in Gaza is devastating. Reports indicate over 100 people died and more than 700 were injured while trying to receive desperately needed aid.
Jason Lee, Country Director for Save the Children in the occupied Palestinian territory, said:
“The reports emerging are beyond horrific … While children are dying from lack of food, their parents are dying trying to get it … There must be actions taken to ensure adherence to international humanitarian law. Civilians cannot be denied lifesaving assistance, or be killed trying to get help.”
To protect children in this crisis, Save the Children is calling for safe access for civilians to receive a massive increase in humanitarian aid supplies and the personnel needed to deliver it, as well as an immediate ceasefire and the release of all remaining hostages. These are the only ways to save lives and protect children’s futures.
