| Pamela, The climate is in crisis, and we're calling on our leaders to do something about it. Right now along Louisiana's coast, fossil fuel polluters are currently expanding export terminals and pimples in an attempt to make America produce more fossil fuels than any other country in the next decade. The biggest culprit of this fossil fuel expansion is "liquefied natural gas" (LNG) shipments— from the Gulf of Mexico are by far the biggest source of that growth. Just one of the newly proposed LNG terminals would be responsible for releasing 20 times (!!!) more greenhouse gas emissions annually than the Willow project oil drilling pipeline in Alaska. Continuing to destroy our coasts and communities with fossil fuels is a direct threat to the Black, Brown, and Indigenous communities who live on the frontlines. We need to raise our voices and keep the Biden administration from going through with these new LNG facilities. Sign the petition today and make your voice heard! Hip Hop Caucus has always raised our voices against the harm fossil fuels cause to Louisiana's communities, and our Gulf Coast Renewal Campaign was born after Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans. The idea of putting new LNG facilities in a place where climate change has caused hurricanes to grow stronger and more frequent is alarming. The fact that these LNG facilities are planned to be placed in low-income communities and communities of color is even more alarming. Louisiana's coastal communities deserve a sustainable future that isn't filled with one ecological disaster after another. Sign our petition today and say NO to more LNGs in Louisiana. Raise your voice and demand an end to fossil fuel expansion! For future generations, Rev Lennox Yearwood President & CEO Hip Hop Caucus |
