Dear MoveOn member,
They call themselves "Moms for Liberty."
We call them "Moms Against Liberty."
If you haven't heard of them, they are the leading right-wing group responsible for getting books banned around the country, were labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, and they recently quoted Hitler on the front of their newsletter to describe their philosophy about the importance of "own[ing] the youth."1,2
Their national convention begins today in Philadelphia with Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis in attendance. MoveOn will be there too.
You remember the billboard we drove around Mar-a-Lago calling for Trump to be held accountable for his crimes? Well, as you read this, we have another mobile billboard driving around the Philadelphia convention site, exposing these white supremacists for who they are.
It reads, "Stop Extremists & Moms For Liberty. Protect Our Freedom To Read. Protect Our Freedom Of Expression. Protect Our Freedom To Love."
We want to take these billboards on the road, touring them around the sites of other right-wing hate conventions throughout the summer and beyond, but we can do it only with your help.
Will you start a $10 monthly donation today to help pay for these billboards and our campaign against right-wing book bans? Hate like this cannot be allowed to go unanswered.
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
The Moms for Liberty national convention will bring hundreds of dangerous extremists to Philadelphia and will feature right-wing politicians who are a danger to our democracy, including Trump and DeSantis, who will be speaking over the weekend.
Founded in 2021 by MAGA activists in Florida, Moms for Liberty, which first fought against COVID safety measures in schools, is now focused on banning books and limiting discussion about race and LGBTQ+ families, all while working to fill local school boards with other MAGA conservatives who can push more and more extreme policies onto our children.3
But we know that liberty really means the freedom to choose. The freedom to think. The freedom to read.
Exactly the opposite of what Moms for Liberty believes.
We're bringing that message to Philadelphia. We need to bring that message across the United States, wherever these groups meet to promote their hatred. But we need your help to do it.
Will you start a $10 monthly donation today to help us drive billboards like this around conservative conventions all summer and beyond, and to power our long-term campaign against book bans? We can't be silent, but we need your help.
No, I'm sorry, I can't make a monthly donation.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms. In response, MoveOn is launching a "Banned Bookmobile," filling it with books that the far right has banned, and driving it around to hand out those books, for free, in highly trafficked areas that will attract media attention. To keep the Banned Bookmobile up and running into 2024, we need your help.
Will you start a monthly gift to power our critical work?
