We're writing to you with an important membership challenge as we end the second quarter of 2023. But just to be clear, this is no doom and gloom "we are going out of business" challenge. No flashing graphic gimmicky challenge. Not even a tear-jerker challenge with a sad puppy.

Nope. As one of the few national grassroots groups driven by our members, we are asking you to recommit to the democracy-saving work of defeating the MAGA-controlled GOP at this crucial moment, as we finalize our plans for the 2024 election cycle.

Because, in truth, this summer is shaping up to be one of our busiest and most important. With President Joe Biden gearing up for his reelection campaign, Donald Trump and his MAGA marionettes escalating their attacks on our democracy, and Ron DeSantis traveling the country and celebrating his authoritarian policies including banning the books our kids need to read, there is a lot to do. If you want us to.

So, here's the challenge. 

Over the next four days, we want to bring in 428 new monthly donors to MoveOn. And we don't need you to shell out big bucks. Small donations of $5, $10, or $20 a month add up to make a big difference. In fact, over the course of one year, a $10 monthly donation will allow MoveOn to send 6,000 text messages to MoveOn members!

Andra, we really mean it when we say that MoveOn is powered by our members and that your contributions make an outsized impact. Here are just a few examples: 

• If all 428 new monthly donors chipped in just $5 a month, we could purchase 2,335 copies of the most banned book of 2023, "Gender Queer: A Memoir" by Maia Kobabe, to give away for free from our Banned Bookmobile over the next few months. 
• If all 428 new monthly donors chipped in just $10 month, we could help MoveOn members make 3,969 calls to Congress before the end of the year demanding that they impeach corrupt Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
• And if all 428 dug deep and chipped in $15 a month, we could send a whopping 5,457,000 text messages to MoveOn members before the 2024 elections, with information on how to check their voter registration status and register to vote.

Want to support MoveOn's work? Book bans have skyrocketed thanks to right-wing state laws which have forced teachers to remove books from their classrooms.
