Pamela,
Today is National Voter Registration Day, a nationwide effort to make sure every eligible voter is ready to cast a ballot. In Florida, where barriers to voting are too often put in people's way, helping your friends, family, and neighbors register is one of the most powerful actions you can take.
Here's what you need to know to help someone register in Florida:
Deadline: Voters must be registered 29 days before Election Day.
Voters who have a Florida driver license or state ID can register online at RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.
Voters who don't have a Florida driver license or state ID need to register using a paper form:
By Mail: Voter registration applications can be downloaded from RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov and mailed to your county Supervisor of Elections.
In Person: Voter registration is available at all Supervisor of Elections offices, public libraries, and Driver License Service Centers.
Three easy steps you can take right now:
Check your status. Go to RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov to check if you are registered and confirm everything is correct.
Share resources. Send folks ourKeepFloridaVoting.org webpage, which is a one-stop-shop for voting information.
Talk through options. Once registered, Floridians can choose to vote by mail, vote early in person, or vote at their assigned polling place on Election Day. Encourage them to make a plan now.
Our democracy works best when more people participate. This National Voter Registration Day, take a few minutes to ensure your community is ready to vote.
Let's commit to building a democracy that works for all of us. Every registration form completed, every voter prepared, is a step towards a Florida where every voice is heard and every vote is counted.
Thank you for taking action,
Franceska Edouard, Florida Organizer
and the team at Common Cause Florida
