Tell Democrats in Congress: Hold the line in the shutdown fight!

This moment demands something different from the status quo.

Win Without War

Trump's government is a runaway train barreling down the tracks toward authoritarianism, Pamela:

He's deploying the National Guard into our cities. He's weaponizing the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to censor political speech. He's ordering illegal strikes in the Caribbean, killing people without evidence or cause.

None of it is making any of us safer, but with government funding set to expire at the end of the month, Congress has a unique chance to shut it down.

It's time for Congress to play hardball and fight for what actually keeps us safe: We demand healthcare, not warfare. Right now, with 17 million people expected to lose their health coverage because of Republican funding cuts, momentum is building to make that demand a reality.

Members of Congress are feeling the pressure and the stakes are sky high. If even a handful of Democrats break ranks and vote for a partisan stopgap bill, Trump's government — with all its disastrous, dangerous policies — gets funded. That's why we need to flood every Democrat in Congress with a loud and clear message to hold the line.

This is no time for business as usual. Tell Democrats in Congress: Shut down Trump's government until the people's demands are met.

ACT NOW

When we fight back, we can win, Pamela. Just take Trump's latest attempt to silence dissent on the airwaves.

Over the past few days, partner organizations and people across the movement engaged in a massive public pressure campaign after ABC gave into censorship demands from Trump's FCC and suspended late-night host Jimmy Kimme. Today, Kimmel is back on the air.[1]

Now, it's time to bring the same energy to bear to a fight to extend life-saving healthcare tax credits and send Trump an undeniable signal that no matter how hard he tries, he still can't change the fact that we live in a democracy.

Congress has until September 30th to avert a government shutdown. With both chambers in recess this week, Republican leadership will make a mad dash to sway a handful of on-the-fence Democrats to join them in passing a stopgap funding bill when they return.

We need to be ready.

One thing we can do to break through the noise on Capitol Hill, Pamela? Get louder. Let's remind Congressional Dems their constituents, along with tens of thousands of others, want healthcare, not warfare.

Tell Democrats: Don't pass up this opportunity to stop Trump's authoritarian government in its tracks and get people the healthcare they need and deserve.

Thank you for working for peace,
The Win Without War team
