Congress has the power to stop this

Pamela – it's been over 30 days since Trump's federal takeover of Washington, D.C., and it looks like it's not stopping. We all know this isn't about crime. This is a clear attempt to make D.C.'s residents feel like they aren't safe in their homes, suppress dissent and take away any and all attention from how Trump's policies are leaving people worse off. This is a blatant attempt at a power grab. No one in D.C., from its residents to elected leaders, wants this. Add your voice to tell Congress to pass resolutions to return power to D.C. officials. Tell Congress → Power Back to D.C. Trump isn't backing down, and this only sets a bad precedent. Trump has called for a militarized police force in cities like New Orleans, Los Angeles and Memphis, and we're sure that list will only grow. Trump is preparing the National Guard to roll into any one of those cities, or even yours, at a moment's notice. Whatever insane rationale they come up with, the administration is still breaking the law. A nearly 150-year-old law prohibits the use of the U.S. military for domestic law enforcement, except when specifically authorized by the Constitution or an act of Congress. But clearly, the Trump administration doesn't care about following the law. Congress has introduced resolutions in both the House and Senate to stop Trump's takeover and return power rightfully to D.C. officials. If Congress doesn't step up and stop Trump now, no city – or state – will be off limits and his power will continue to go unchecked.
