BREAKING: Our new poll confirms that Floridians across parties reject mid-decade redistricting. Tell your representatives to oppose rigging Florida's maps >>
Pamela, Common Cause's new poll makes it clear – Floridians do not support redrawing our voting maps in the middle of the decade [1]:
This is across political affiliations: 45% of Republican voters oppose and only 36% support, 60% of non-affiliated/independent voters oppose and only 14% support, and 62% of Democratic voters oppose and only 25% support.
And it is not just Floridians. Voters across the country and across the political spectrum agree [2]:
Nationally, 51% of Republicans, 70% of Democrats, and 60% of independents oppose mid-decade redistricting.
Trump's political team has been pressuring Republican leaders across the country to redraw congressional maps, and it worked in Texas. Now, Governor DeSantis and other state leaders are proposing to change Florida's voting map before the 2026 midterm election.
ACT NOW: Tell the Florida Legislature to reject mid-decade redistricting >>
This is a crisis for our democracy, but also an opportunity. We need to make it clear that Floridians do not want the legislature to waste their time and our taxpayer dollars trying to make our voting maps even more gerrymandered than they already are. We want them to focus on the real issues impacting our lives, like the cost of groceries, housing and insurance.
Our poll shows that nationally – and in Florida – Americans oppose Trump's election-rigging scheme and are demanding independent, citizen-led redistricting. In Florida, an overwhelming majority of voters (76%) support independent commissions made up of citizens to draw district lines instead of state lawmakers. [2]
It's simple: Floridians recognize that politicians shouldn't get to choose their voters.
When politicians have that power, they're going to abuse it – costing us our right to fair representation, and our ability to truly hold politicians accountable on the issues we care about.
Most Americans – Republicans, Democrats, and independents, are demanding solutions, but our elected leaders keep looking the other way. Let's make them listen.
Tell representatives today: We don't want mid-decade redistricting, we want solutions that create a more affordable future for all Floridians.
Thanks for all you do,
