Here's what they're saying: Stephen Miller is vowing to use the full weight of the government to "disrupt, dismantle, and destroy" left-leaning organizations – which he's blaming for the shooting without a shred of evidence. [1] Attorney General Pam Bondi is warning the government will "absolutely target you" if they suspect you of "hate speech" [2] – which Trump is defining as anyone who treats him "unfairly". [3] and Trump himself is demanding the people who peacefully protested him in a D.C. restaurant be "put in jail". [4] Trump has long wanted to rule like a dictator – and his administration is signaling they intend to start now. Here's the good news: we have checks and balances for a reason – and Trump can't make the worst of his anti-free speech dreams a reality without Congress's help. And just last week, public outcry forced Trump's allies on the Hill to walk back a bill that would have let him and Marco Rubio strip Americans of our passports on little more than an accusation – with no trial.
