Pamela, our country has experienced a series of record-breaking extreme weather disasters this year. Historic wildfires in Los Angeles and near the Grand Canyon. Devastating flooding in Texas and Wisconsin. Record-breaking heat waves across the country. It's been reported that the United States has experienced more than $135 billion in damages already this year.
In the midst of these extreme disasters, the Trump administration has cut funding for essential agencies and services like FEMA, NOAA, and the National Weather Service -- the resources our country relies on to predict these disasters, send alerts, and provide life-saving relief to victims.
That's why the work we're doing at Climate Power is so critical right now. We're connecting extreme weather disasters to the climate crisis that fuels them and holding climate deniers accountable for withholding urgent resources that save lives.
If you've stored your info with ActBlue Express, we'll process your contribution instantly:
With your support, we'll be able to plan and fully execute initiatives like:
⚡ EXECUTING RAPID RESPONSE: We'll monitor breaking news and identify moments to get news coverage connecting extreme weather to the climate crisis.
⚡ ELEVATING THE ECONOMIC STAKES OF INACTION: Working in partnership with businesses, local elected officials, labor, schools, and other stakeholders, we will create opportunities to elevate the cost of inaction.
⚡ ELEVATING KEY VOICES: We will work to elevate meteorologists, first responders, and storytellers in the media and online.
⚡ TAKING THE FIGHT TO CLIMATE DENIERS: More often than not, our side cedes ground to climate opponents by not showing up in unfriendly environments, which leaves attacks and denial unanswered. We are going to change that and make sure that some of our best surrogates are getting airtime with unfriendly channels and outlets as a specific strategy to break through the noise.
⚡ DRIVING NARRATIVE AROUND RELIABILITY: Clean energy is more reliable during extreme weather events. We'll ensure our partners and storytellers have the key data and facts to drive that narrative in the media.
We must keep building power now if we are going to win future fights, save critical services and disaster relief, and protect our clean energy future. But we need your help today to do that, Pamela.
Thanks for being a part of this work,
Climate Power
