Trump's brazen attempt to rig the midterm elections comes after years of baseless claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him. Republican disinformation campaigns pushing baseless lies about supposed non-citizen voting have laid the groundwork for Trump's efforts to steal the 2026 elections.
In addition to extreme GOP gerrymandering and a new census, the SAVE Act could disenfranchise millions of voters. The bill would require people to prove that they're citizens in order to vote by providing a birth certificate, passport, or naturalization papers. 21 million eligible voters don't have these documents readily available.
The stakes are clear: Trump and his allies want to lock themselves into power by rigging the system, suppressing votes, and silencing millions of Americans. Congress must stop Republicans from stealing the midterms.
