Pamela: There's nothing American about a gulag. But under Trump's unaccountable, unidentifiable police force, the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), American Gulags are becoming a reality.
Trump is building a police state. We're seeing ICE agents jumping out of unmarked vehicles with no visible identification, handcuffing someone and taking them to an undisclosed location to detain them indefinitely. And somehow, what's even worse, is our very own government is sending the people they kidnap to a foreign country. That's human trafficking.
This is happening on the streets of American cities―even in our nation's capital! We need to stand up and put an end to this cruel and barbaric practice. Tell Congress to immediately investigate ICE's human trafficking and indefinite detention of immigrants in foreign prisons.
The U.S. Constitution is clear: Every person is entitled to due process in the court of law. But in the Trump administration, that only applies to some, not all. Documents show that more than 71% of current ICE detainees have no criminal conviction, but that clearly hasn't stopped ICE.
We need to shine a light on what nefarious activities ICE is doing – not only what we've seen, but what they're doing behind the scenes with even less oversight. Congress must use every tool at its disposal to put an end to the administration's illegal deportation.
Take a moment to tell Congress to hold public hearings and do everything in its power to put an end to American-sponsored gulags and ICE's human trafficking.
Thank you,
Mike Phelan
