Pamela,
Our friends at New Seasons Labor Union need our help.
Here's what happened:
On Monday, a strong chemical smell wafted into one of their Pacific Northwest organic grocery locations. The odor quickly made workers feel sick, but management forced them to keep working on site, even as they closed the store to customers.
The unionized workers at that store walked out together, standing up to management forcing them to work in an unsafe environment.
Now, management is retaliating against the workers who walked out, docking their day's pay, even though many of them already live paycheck to paycheck.
Can you chip in to help New Seasons Labor Union recover lost wages for workers who walked out during an unsafe environment?
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your secure donation will go through immediately:
A lot of people think that unions only fight for better wages and benefits. But there's more to it―it means that workers can have each others' backs when we stand up to management. One worker leaving an unsafe store is an inconvenience to management. When the whole shift walks out, it gets their attention.
No one should have to work in an unsafe environment. Management still hasn't informed workers what they were exposed to or how serious the health risks might be.
Help grocery workers recover lost wages when they stood up for safety!
In solidarity,
The Labor Force
