Here's what happened:
Trump cited "national security" as the reason to void collective bargaining agreements with workers at the Veterans Affairs administration, the EPA, and more. But in his whitehouse.gov fact sheet, Trump makes it clear that the real reason for the attacks is that career civil servants have continued to put the missions of the departments they serve ahead of Trump's whims.
Unions provide essential protection to workers who can't stand up to the Trump administration as individuals. They channel collective power for the common good. No wonder Trump wants to destroy them.
This retaliatory approach is closer to what you'd expect from Amazon or Tesla than from the leader of the free world―but when you elect a billionaire President, that's exactly what you get.
The work our government does is too important to be subject to the whims of a narcissistic billionaire, even if that narcissistic billionaire lives in the White House. Tell Congress to side with civil servants who make our country strong, not Trump!!
