Dear Pamela,
Housing is a human right, but millions of people are denied access to this fundamental need because of their conviction histories.
Housing providers often impose needless barriers that can make it extremely difficult for people with any history of incarceration to find a place to live.
Since 2017, Vera has worked to remove barriers to housing for people with conviction histories. We partner with homeless service providers, housing finance agencies, public housing authorities, and other advocates to break the cycle of homelessness and incarceration.
Donate today to help us continue this essential work. Together, we can make a difference. |
One in three adults in the United States has a history of criminal legal system involvement. Preventing them from securing housing doesn't benefit our communities. Rather, ensuring housing access for all people is vital to our communities' well-being.
Together, we can continue working toward a future where everyone has a safe place to call home.
Onward, Vera Institute of Justice |
