Today is Earth Day. Today is supposed to be a celebration of the planet we all call home. But, the reality is hard to ignore: Donald Trump has spent his first three months in office corrupting the executive branch and abusing the power he holds -- serving his own political will, the demands of his donors and backers, and retribution against those who dare to challenge him.
He abused his power when he gave Elon Musk free rein to slash and burn programs that keep us safe and healthy.
He abused his power when he defied court orders.
He abused his power when he targeted law firms that challenge him.
He abused his power when he targeted universities for producing research that serves the public interest, not his own.
There's a clear pattern. Donald Trump will yield his power to silence anyone who dares stand against him.
And now, according to news reports, he's coming for climate activism next.
But here's what Donald Trump needs to know: We will not back down. Whatever is ahead, we will be prepared. And we will continue to fight.
It is more important than ever to call out Trump's abuse of power and personal vendettas to support organizations doing the critical work to protect our environment, the health and safety of our communities, and safeguard our planet for generations to come.
