SIGN NOW: Protect our schools from Trump's attacks >> Pamela, Donald Trump is signing another fake executive order today – one that he claims can get rid of the Department of Education, which millions of students, teachers, and parents rely on to ensure every child gets the education they deserve. That's why he's put unelected billionaire Elon Musk in charge and pushed for cuts to lifesaving programs like Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. But trying to shut down an entire Cabinet agency might be his most brazen move yet. The Department of Education directly supports underfunded schools, makes college more affordable with federal aid, and protects students from discrimination. [1] That's why our new poll found that 56% of Americans want Trump to hire more civil servants to work there, not less. [2] The American people want a strong Department of Education – and nobody will benefit from gutting it besides wealthy donors and for-profit education companies.
