Louisiana’s children don’t belong in adult prisons

Amendment 3 is a threat to kids.

Hi Pamela,  On March 29, Louisiana voters will have the opportunity to vote no on Amendment 3, a dangerous proposed amendment to the state constitution that would funnel more kids into adult prisons and jails, exposing them to higher risks of suicide, sexual violence, and physical abuse. If it isn't stopped, this measure will create a pathway for more children to be transferred to adult court. Amendment 3 hands over too much power to legislators and puts children at risk of violence and suffering.  Sending children to adult prisons makes it nearly impossible for them to access the rehabilitative services they need to successfully rejoin their communities. Instead of healing, they're trapped in a cycle of harm. Pamela, does this seem right to you? We need our lawmakers to address the root causes of crime, such as poverty, trauma, mental health, and lack of economic opportunity.   Amendment 3 fails to address these issues.
