| Petition to Congress: We urge you to protect federal agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau from Elon Musk's DOGE activities. |
Elon Musk is trying to shut down the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) — an agency that protects everyday people from predatory financial firms and corporations.
Senator Elizabeth Warren said Musk's actions would give "free reign to Wall Street to scam you." Even worse, Musk has a direct conflict of interest — he wants to turn his social media company, X, into a payment processor.
Without a strong and stable CFPB, Musk will be able to scam people (even more than he already is at the Department of Government Efficiency). Congress must stand up to Musk's illegal move to help make the rich, including himself, even richer.
Sign the petition: Don't let Musk evade accountability by destroying the CFPB!
Shortly after Trump's election, Elon Musk said he wanted to "delete" the CFPB. Now, Musk is illegally trying to make good on his word, shut down the agency for good, and hand over another win to billionaires and Wall Street.
The richest man in the world is attacking an agency that returns $21 billion annually to consumers who are cheated out of their money by big banks, payday lenders, and companies like Tesla.
Musk and Trump are trying to circumvent Congress and the courts to unilaterally shut the agency down. It's against the law. It's a threat to our democracy. Congress must stand in Musk's way.
Add your name: Stop Musk's insidious power grab and protect the CFPB!
