These pardons are shameful and un-American.

Friend, On his first day back in office, Donald Trump pardoned nearly every single individual who perpetrated the assault on the Capitol on January 6th, 2021. Let's be clear: These pardons are shameful and un-American. I was at the Capitol on January 6th. I saw firsthand how rioters attempted to overturn a free and fair election. It was one of the darkest days in American history. Those who stormed the Capitol, whether they engaged in violence or not, committed a very serious crime. People convicted of seditious conspiracy or assaulting police officers should never have been pardoned. Every one of my Senate Democratic colleagues joined me in introducing a resolution condemning the pardons. I hope you'll join us in calling for its immediate passage.
