Dear Pamela,
As we kick off the new year, I want to ensure you're informed and involved as Florida's legislative process begins to ramp up. Florida's Legislative Session will start on March 4th, but interim committee meetings have already started in Tallahassee, and it's a big deal—it's where a lot of the groundwork for the upcoming legislative session gets started.
What are committee weeks?
Florida legislators convene interim committee meetings in advance of the legislative session to:
-
Discuss and review proposed bills
-
Set their priorities for the upcoming session
-
Hear testimony from state agencies and subject-matter experts
Committees in both the Florida House of Representatives and Senate convene during this time to shape their plans for the session ahead. It's a chance for lawmakers to hold meetings, debate ideas, and hear from people like you on how they can tackle the big issues facing our state.
When are committee weeks coming up in 2025?
-
February 3-7
-
February 10-14
-
February 17-21
Why is it important to stay connected?
Your voice plays a crucial role in the legislative process. Staying informed about committee discussions allows you to:
-
Advocate for policies that align with your priorities
-
Provide valuable feedback to legislators
-
Stay ahead of potential legislative changes
