Your Impact with Vera in 2024

Your Impact in 2024: Our movement for justice made clear progress this year. Together we are:

Ending Low-Level Police Traffic Stops: We supported places like Denver, Colorado, as they worked to limit unnecessary traffic stops and racially disparate harms.

Keeping Young People Out of the System: We drove policy change across California and supported new youth diversion programs to keep girls out of the juvenile legal system.

Working to Close Deadly Jails: We advocated for federal intervention at New York's Rikers Island and for the closure of Los Angeles Men's Central Jail following dozens of deaths.

Making Prisons Safer and More Humane: We continued our partnerships with five states to redesign prison housing units grounded in dignity, community, and healing.

Opening Doors to Housing: We helped introduce new legislation in Michigan to remove barriers to housing for people returning home after incarceration.

Through research, advocacy, and evidence-based programs, Vera is ending mass incarceration. Thank you for your support.
